The 2009 Champions for Children Dinner & Celebration

On May 7th, 520 Children’s Law Center supporters attended the 2009 Champions for Children Dinner & Celebration at the Seawell Grand Ballroom. Guests had an opportunity to meet Dr. Bertice Berry, our keynote speaker, during the cocktail hour and receive a signed copy of her latest novel, The Ties that Bind. 

The inspiring program began by Governor Bill Ritter welcoming everyone and reaffirming his support of the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center and the children we serve.  In keeping with the evening’s theme, Together We Rise, Founder and Executive Director Shari Shink once again illuminated the struggles foster children face and shared compelling success stories that demonstrate the powerful impact community support can have in a maltreated child’s life. 

The highlight of the evening came from Dr. Bertice Berry, who made the crowd laugh and cry as she shared her experiences as a foster and adoptive parent.  The evening concluded with an exciting Live Auction, conducted by former Colorado State Representative Debbie Stafford, which helped raise more than $200,000 to support our work for maltreated children.
