Winter Interns
We are thrilled to announce that Melissa Dempsey (pictured left) and Alison Ivory joined us as interns in late 2011. Melissa has a background in both policy and law and will be helping primarily with domestic violence cases. Alison is helping with interviews in domestic violence cases while pursuing her master’s degree in social work at CSU. With their time and talents, we can increase the level of advocacy for children in need
Melissa, who was born in Missoula, Montana, attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida, where she earned her undergraduate degree in foreign relations and sociology with a minor in sustainable development.
After earning her bachelor's degree, Melissa traveled to New York where she earned her master's degree from New York University in human rights and environmental policy.
Melissa soon left the big apple, received her juris doctorate from Arizona StateUniversity and recently moved to Denver. Melissa is currently taking domestic violence cases for the Children's Law Center.
Alison Ivory (pictured right) is working with domestic violence cases at the Children's Law Center. "I help with the interviewing of parents and children of domestic violence which entails a lot," said Alison.
Alison, a Colorado native, was born and raised in Fort Collins where she attended Colorado State University for her undergraduate degree in social work. After earning her degree, Alison worked at a residential treatment center for women and children located in Denver. Alison also worked at the Department of Human Services in Jefferson County assisting in kinship work where she worked with relatives who had taken custody of another family member.
Alison is currently working on her master's degree in social work from ColoradoState University and is set to graduate in one year.
