VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES Dandelion Project - The Dandelion Project is a weekly, therapeutic gardening program for abused and neglected children that increases their self-esteem through group therapy, mentoring and gardening projects. Volunteers need not be gardeners but must be willing to get their hands dirty and commit to three hours per week from May through October. During the dormant season, many volunteers help with special events and/or stay in contact with the children. Contact Carol LaRocque for more information.
Denver Prevention Partnership - The Children’s Law Center, in partnership with the Denver Department of Human Services (DDHS), pairs volunteer attorneys with at-risk children to strengthen and preserve their families without court intervention. After completing a two-hour training, volunteer attorneys are assigned to a family and asked to meet with them regularly, help develop a services plan, monitor their progress and participate in Team Development Meetings at DDHS. Contact Melissa Parent for more information.
Domestic Violence Program: Representing Child Victims of Domestic Violence - The Domestic Violence Program recruits, trains and supports volunteer attorneys to advocate for children in domestic violence cases. Cases require attorneys to conduct a two-week investigation and make recommendations in court on the child’s behalf. Contact Melissa Parent for more information.
