LEGAL ADVOCACY

Above & Beyond

Kerri took her clients Anna-10, Beth-7, and Caitlyn-6 to a Rockies game on a very crisp Colorado day early in the Rockies season. The three little girls were so excited. It had been a very chaotic few months. They recently moved to their grandma's house because their mom was an abusive alcoholic.  Read more . . .

INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS

Foster Parents & Crisis Calls
Foster parents, relative caregivers, and even children reach out to us in desperate need of services only an attorney can provide. There is no other organization they can turn to that can appear in court on behalf of a child and achieve the kind of success our attorneys achieve for our clients.

Our staff attorneys are only able to take a limited number of these cases. Each year, the Children’s Law Center relies on a pool of 130 trained volunteer attorneys who donate in excess of $900,000 in legal services to help these children, but we are in desparate need for additional attorneys to meet the ever-increasing needs of this vulnerable populationLearn more . . .

Reform for Families and Children
The Children’s Law Center received a crisis call from the Mayo Family. Shari Shink, Founder and Executive Director of the Children’s Law Center, encouraged this foster family to provide testimony to the Governor’s Child Welfare Action Committee this month.

Shari is an appointed member of the Governor’s Child Welfare Action Committee. The committee has spent 12 months completing a comprehensive review of Colorado’s child-protection system to improve services provided to children and families and will deliver recommendations for reform to the Governor within two weeks.  Read the Mayo Family’s Story in thier words.

"It is truly our hope that telling our story will wake someone up . . ."
