October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

This year alone volunteer attorneys have donated more than 850 hours to protect more than 300 child victims of domestic violence. But the need is so much greater.

Each year the number of children who need help through the Domestic Violence Program
continues to grow. Last year, the Domestic Violence Program protected 455 children, more than ever before. This year the program is on pace to surpass even this number. Our ability to meet the needs of child victims of domestic violence is directly dependant on private attorneys willing to donate their time.

This program offers the opportunity to give back to the community and protect the forgotten victims of domestic violence. Thankfully, Denver law firms continue to embrace the work of the Children’s Law Center. Over the last decade, attorneys at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP have, alone, logged over 2,000 pro bono hours, taking on 92 domestic violence disputes. “These cases are a reminder of all the sadness and joy in life that most of our big-firm cases (though intellectually challenging and fun in their own right) don't really invoke” said Jessica Brown, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP.

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP will host a Domestic Violence Volunteer Attorney Training on October 29th from 9 am – 11am to train volunteer attorneys and raise awareness of Domestic Violence issues.

Register today to make a difference and protect a child victim of domestic violence. Registration deadline is October 27th.
