The Youth Advocacy Clinic is a partnership with
Urban
Peak
that provides legal representation, information and education to
Colorado
’s homeless and at-risk youth. The Clinic is an exciting partnership that will further Urban Peak’s mission to help young people overcome homelessness and other real life challenges by providing safety, respect, essential services and a supportive community, empowering them to become self-reliant adults.
The Clinic is designed to provide on-site legal screening, advice, information and referrals to improve the youth’s access to legal services and increase their understanding of the law as it affects their lives. Issues addressed include:
- Education
- Employment
- Immigration and Citizenship
- Immigration and College
- Pregnant and Parenting Teens (family law)
- Emancipation
- Consumer Scams
- Government Benefits
- Criminal Law
- Civil Rights
Volunteer attorneys are needed to staff the Clinic a few hours each week alongside a Children’s
Law
Center
attorney at
Urban
Peak
’s Downtown location. The Children’s
Law
Center
provides volunteers with extensive training, on-site support, and malpractice coverage.
Volunteer orientations for attorneys licensed to practice in
Colorado
